Panama Canal Authority Canal Watershed monthly monitoring data

The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) opperates forty (40) sampling sites or stations, distributed as follows: fourteen (14) in the Gatún Reservoir; five (5) in the Alhajuela Reservoir; and five (5) in the Miraores Reservoir; seven (7) in main rivers (Chagres, Gatún, Boquerón, Trinidad, Cirí Grande, Indio, and Pequení); four (4) in the middle stretch of the Chagres River; and five (5) in the so-called priority sub-basins (Tinajones, Los Hules, Caño Quebrado, and Chilibre Rivers). Visits to the 40 sites were scheduled each month; however. In rivers, samples are collected at a single depth, generally in the center of the channel, where there is flow but without turbulence, while in reservoirs, they are collected at two depths: surface and bottom; the bottom sample is omitted when the total depth is less than three meters. These data are provided upon request through the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, but are property of the ACP. Any use of these data must acknowledge the ACP. Any publication resulting from these data should be submitted to the ACP.
