BSF Beans crowdsourcing data for Hoima Uganda (Version: 1.0)

33 different accessions/varieties of beans were randomly distributed to 200 farmers using the Alliance of Bioversity International and ICAT Climmob Version 2 software( http://climmob.net/Version_2/menu.html ). Three blind varieties were given to each farmer coded A, B and C and were planted in three 2m by 3m plots. A total of 8 villages with 25 farmers from each were engaged. This data set comprised of a total of 112 farmers who managed to successfully evaluate the three blind varieties they were given and successfully shared their data.

BSF beans on-station characterization data for Hoima Uganda (Version: 1.0)

56 bean accessions were planted in a randomised block design, with three replications. All blocks received the same treatment. The block sizes were 2m by 2m. The phenotypic data was collected using the descriptors from the International Board for Plant Genetic Resources.

On station participatory varietal selection data for beans in Hoima Uganda (Version: 1.0)

A total of 15 varieties of beans were evaluated by 15 farmers at National Agricultural Research Centre in Hoima. A Likert scale of 1 to 5 was used by farmers to rank the performance of each variety based on a number of agreed variables. 1=Very poor, 2=Poor, 3=Fair, 4=Good and 5=Very Good in terms of performance.
