This is the processed data for the manuscript “Avenali M, Picascia M, Tassorelli C, Sinforiani E, Bernini S. Evaluation of the efficacy of physical therapy on cognitive decline at 6-month follow-up in Parkinson disease patients with mild cognitive impairment: a randomized controlled trial. Aging Clin Exp Res. 2021 May 12. Epub ahead of print”. This dataset includes demographics, clinical and neuropsychological variables of the Parkinson Disease patients with mild cognitive impairment evaluated in the study, in order to asses the efficacy of physical therapy on cognitive decline over a 6 months follow-up. Cognitive and motor assessments were performed at three time points: T0, baseline; T1, 4 weeks after baseline and T2, 6 months after baseline. To assess cognitive profile, we used the following selection of tests to predominantly investigate various features of executive functions: Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE); Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA); spatial Corsi’s block-tapping test (CB); Raven’s Matrices 1947 (RM47) ; Frontal Assessment Battery (FAB); phonological fluency (FAS); Attentive Matrices, Trail Making Test A and B (TMT-A; TMT-B). Motor performances were assessed by means of MDS-Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale, part III (UPDRS-III), Tinetti balance and gait score and Hauser Index. Data highlights that physical therapy has a positive effect on cognitive functions which extends beyond the duration of the treatment itself.
