Homogenized and gridded daily observed land soil temperature datasets over mainland China at 0.25°×0.25° from 1960 through 2017 (Version: V3)

Soil temperature (TS) is one of the most important factors in the land-atmosphere interaction process. Raw measured TSs may contain biases due to instrument replacement, changes in recording procedures, and other nonclimatic factors. Moreover, in China, such homogenized daily soil temperature dataset are still absent so far. Based on above recognition, we developed a multilayer homogenized and gridded dataset of daily TS in mainland China from 1960 to 2017. Our dataset contains multilayer gridded TSs, including 0 cm, 5 cm, 10 cm, 15 cm, 20 cm and 40 cm. This dataset can accurately and reliably evaluate the spatial and temporal change characteristics of the TS in mainland China. What’s more, the homogenized TS datasets can be further adopted for a variety of applications (e.g., model evaluation and extreme event characterization).
