Multibeam bathymetry raw data (Kongsberg EM 122 entire dataset) of RV MARIA S. MERIAN during cruise MSM109

This is the raw multibeam data collected during cruise MSM109 using the hull-mounted Multibeam Echosounder Kongsberg EM122 (2 by 2 degrees with ice window). This data collection includes the transits from Tromsø to the Svalbard region, the surveys, and the transit back to Reykjavík. The swath width was set to 130 degrees. New Sound Velocity Profiles are inserted into the acquisition software after every CTD station. A Surface Sound Velocity sensor was used in real time to correct the data transmission. Depth mode was set to auto. Data was logged using the .ALL format from Kongsberg Maritime. Water Column Data was also recorded and integrated into PANGAEA as separate dataset.

Water column raw data (Kongsberg EM 122 entire dataset) of RV MARIA S. MERIAN during cruise MSM109

This is the water column multibeam data collected during cruise MSM109 using the hull-mounted Multibeam Echosounder Kongsberg EM122 (2 by 2 degrees with ice window). This data collection includes the transits from Tromsø to the Svalbard region, the surveys, and the transit back to Reykjavík. The swath width was set to 130 degrees. Depth mode was set to auto which affects the resolution of the Water Column Data based on the depth. Data was logged using the .WCD format from Kongsberg Maritime. Raw Multibeam Data was also recorded and integrated into PANGAEA as separate dataset.

Sediment echosounder raw data (Atlas Parasound P70 echosounder entire dataset) of RV MARIA S. MERIAN during cruise MSM109

This is the sub-bottom profiler data collected during cruise MSM109 using the hull-mounted parametric sub-bottom profiler Atlas Parasound P70. This data collection includes the transits from Tromsø to the Svalbard region, the surveys, and the transit back to Reykjavík. The system utilises two high-intensity waves with frequencies of 18-20 kHz (primary high frequency; PHF) and 22-24 kHz to create a secondary high (about 40-42 kHz) and secondary low frequency (SLF) of about 4 kHz. The PHF is used to record the water column, while the SLP records the sub-bottom data. The system opening angle is of 4 by 5 degrees. A Surface Sound Velocity sensor was used in real time to correct the data transmission, and for the water column a static values of 1500 m/s was used. Data was logged using the software Atlas Parastore and stored in raw .ASD files. Additional files were created in .PS3 and/or .SEGY formats, but their data is dependent on the settings and parameters used in the system.
