S-Index Interpretation
The S-Index (Sharing Index) is a comprehensive metric that represents the cumulative impact of all your datasets. It is calculated as the sum of Dataset Index scores across all your claimed datasets.
What it means:
- A higher S-index indicates greater overall impact of your datasets relative to typical datasets in their fields of research
- The S-Index grows as you add more datasets or as existing datasets gain more citations and mentions
- It provides a single number to track your research data impact over time
Current S-Index: 5.1 (sum of 32 datasets Dataset Index scores)

The present follow-up survey is based on interviews with 1,016 companies distributed across 21 different services and programmes. The 21 services and programs are divided into four main groups. Group 1 is Loans, group 2 is Grants, group 3 is Programs that offer both financing, advice and networking, while group 4 is Scholarships. It is important to emphasize that Innovation Norway provides advice related to all its services and programs, but there are therefore some services and programs that have advice as part of the program content itself - not just advice related to the case management itself. The services and programs that are not included in the survey account for approximately NOK 700 million. in the scope of commitments and is mainly linked to profiling and internationalisation. In addition, there are a number of network projects that have been omitted from the survey (for example, neither the Arena nor the NCE program is included). The reason why these programs and services are kept out is primarily that the survey system the Customer Effect Surveys are based on is less suitable for these services and programs, and that you have your own effect measurements for these.Innovation Norway was established on 1 January 2004.

The 2011 follow-up survey was conducted by Oxford Research on behalf of Innovation Norway. The survey is part of the customer impact study, and consists of the responses that the companies provided approximately four years after they received support from Innovation Norway. The same companies were interviewed about their project expectations the year after they received the support (pre-survey). The purpose of the customer impact surveys is twofold. Firstly, there is an internal purpose which involves improving and further developing Innovation Norway's operations. Secondly, there is an external purpose which answers the question "what have we gotten in return for the money?".This survey includes 28 of Innovation Norway's services. Compared to the 2010 follow-up survey (26 services), this year's survey includes four new services (Design Consulting, Entrepreneurship, Local Food Programme, and Environmental Technology). The Incubator Grant and Value Creation Programme Food are out of the survey. The latter has been replaced by the Local Food Programme.
