S-Index Interpretation
The S-Index (Sharing Index) is a comprehensive metric that represents the cumulative impact of all your datasets. It is calculated as the sum of Dataset Index scores across all your claimed datasets.
What it means:
- A higher S-index indicates greater overall impact of your datasets relative to typical datasets in their fields of research
- The S-Index grows as you add more datasets or as existing datasets gain more citations and mentions
- It provides a single number to track your research data impact over time
Current S-Index: 2.3 (sum of 4 datasets Dataset Index scores)

Datasets
This dataset contains annual shoreline positions for England and Wales covering the period from 1999 to 2023. The entire coastline has been divided into 276 Regions of Interest (ROIs). For each ROI, coastline positions are provided in both tabular and GeoJSON formats.Coastlines were extracted for each ROI, but validation was performed only for sandy beaches. The dataset includes coastlines for all ROIs, covering both sandy and other types of beaches. The dataset includes the following components:1. ROI ClassificationA file containing the classification of each ROI as either a sandy beach or another type of coastline.2. TransectsA directory containing all transects for each ROI, used in the coastline extraction process for tidal correction. These files are provided in GeoJSON format and can be directly imported into mapping platforms.3. Coastline PositionA directory containing coastline position data in two formats:GeoJSON: Coastline positions for each ROI in GeoJSON format, ready for direct import into mapping platforms.Table: Coastline positions stored as latitude and longitude coordinates for each ROI. The data is presented in tabular form, with transects as columns and dates as rows. The article describing the data extraction is available as a preprint at:10.21203/rs.3.rs-7410724/v1

Description: This dataset provides a comprehensive collection of beach profile measurements for Morecambe Bay, covering a 16-year period from 2007 to 2022. The data was collected and shared by Sefton Council (Sefton MBC), UK, as part of the coastal monitoring programme. Captured biannually during spring and autumn, the data offers valuable insights into the bay's coastal morphology and dynamics.Data Description:Beach Transects: Detailed profiles are provided for various locations along the Morecambe Bay coastline. Station numbers are used to identify each measurement point on a dedicated map (included within the data).Temporal Coverage: The dataset encompasses measurements conducted biannually, capturing seasonal variations in beach profiles.
