S-Index Interpretation
The S-Index (Sharing Index) is a comprehensive metric that represents the cumulative impact of all your datasets. It is calculated as the sum of Dataset Index scores across all your claimed datasets.
What it means:
- A higher S-index indicates greater overall impact of your datasets relative to typical datasets in their fields of research
- The S-Index grows as you add more datasets or as existing datasets gain more citations and mentions
- It provides a single number to track your research data impact over time
Current S-Index: 3.1 (sum of 2 datasets Dataset Index scores)

Datasets
Multibeam data were collected during RV Polarstern cruise ANT-XIII/3. Data are unprocessed and may contain outliers and blunders. Therefore the data should not directly be used for grid calculations and charting projects but need to be edited furthermore. The dataset consists of files in ATLAS ascii multibeam format including 'record control words' (*.dux). Atlas DUX data files can be processed using the open source software package MB-System (Caress et al., MB-System: Mapping the Seafloor,http://www.mbari.org/products/research-software/mb-system/ 2021). Values of depths and lateral distances are averaged with neighbouring beams.Ancillary sound velocity profiles (SVP) for data calibration are not part of this dataset publication.
