Data published in article "Hyperactive delta isoform of PI3Kinase enables long distance regeneration of the rat corticospinal tract"

The study identifies a treatment that enables extensive regeneration of motor axons after spinal cord injury. AAV therapy containing PI3Kd resulted in robust axon growth around the lesion site to areas as far as 1 cm caudally. Adult rats treated with PI3Kd showed motor function improvements confirmed by the formation of new mature synapses, retrograde tracing of regenerated axons and electrophysiological recordings.
