S-Index Interpretation
The S-Index (Sharing Index) is a comprehensive metric that represents the cumulative impact of all your datasets. It is calculated as the sum of Dataset Index scores across all your claimed datasets.
What it means:
- A higher S-index indicates greater overall impact of your datasets relative to typical datasets in their fields of research
- The S-Index grows as you add more datasets or as existing datasets gain more citations and mentions
- It provides a single number to track your research data impact over time
Current S-Index: 0.6 (sum of 2 datasets Dataset Index scores)

Datasets
This dataset comprises of the results of habitat structural characterisation from terrestrial laser scanning (TLS), conducted using a FARO Focus M70 terrestrial laser scanner (Faro Technologies Inc., Lake Mary, USA) in Tenerife, Spain, used for the analysis in https://doi.org/10.32942/X2MD23. A published algorithm (https://github.com/ehbrechtetal/Stand-structural-complexity-index---SSCI.git) was used to calculate the Stand Structural Complexity Index (SSCI), developed by Ehbrecht et al. (2017), derived from the Mean Fractal index (MeanFRAC) and the Effective Number of Layers (ENL). Other structural metrics such as canopy openness, mean distance from the stand, and an Understorey Complexity Index (UCI) were calculated. NB: Due to data deposit limitations, the processed scans (as .xyz files) are not deposited but are available on request. Characterising the structural complexity across major habitats of Tenerife, Spain. Dataset (V.1). Zenodo. DOI:10.5281/zenodo.16318411
