<p>Rond 1999 begon U Projecten B.V. met een inrichtingsplan voor het terrein. In het kader van de voorgenomen nieuwbouw is op 9 en 17 april 2001 een Aanvullende Archeologische Iventarisatie fase I (AAI - 1) uitgevoerd door RAAP Archeologisch Adviesbureau in opdracht van U Projecten B.V. op het terrein van 'De Poll' te Bemmel. Op 15 mei 2001 werd het Bureau Archeologie Gemeente Nijmegen verzocht door U Projecten B.V. om een Aanvullend Archeologisch Onderzoek (AAO), een kleinschalige opgravingmet proefsleuven en een verkennend karakter uit te voeren. Tussen 20 en 27 januari 2003 is dit onderzoek uitgevoerd. Er zijn daarbij vier proefsleuven aangelegd. Dit leidde tot verdere aanbevelingen en opgravingen in 2003 en 2004. De opgraving bestaat uit 27 werkputten, inclusief de proefsleuven, met een totale omvang van circa 3160 m2.</p>
