S-Index Interpretation
The S-Index (Sharing Index) is a comprehensive metric that represents the cumulative impact of all your datasets. It is calculated as the sum of Dataset Index scores across all your claimed datasets.
What it means:
- A higher S-index indicates greater overall impact of your datasets relative to typical datasets in their fields of research
- The S-Index grows as you add more datasets or as existing datasets gain more citations and mentions
- It provides a single number to track your research data impact over time
Current S-Index: 328.5 (sum of 24 datasets Dataset Index scores)

This dataset contains species records for Sepsidae species covered by the recording scheme, and that have been verified by the recording scheme. Records are from datasets made available via the iRecord verification process - these records may originate from direct addition of records to iRecord, or via other datasets that have been added to iRecord for verification purposes.Additional_information

This recording scheme covers 15 families of acalypterate flies, each of which contains a relatively small number of species. The dataset contains records verified via iRecord (including records sourced from iNaturalist UK). Records for four families are currently included: Aulacigastridae, Braulidae, Dryomyzidae and Piophilidae. Additional families will be added in future. The Recording Scheme was first formed in 1999 (Dipterists Forum Bulletin #47) in anticipation of improved expertise, interest, records and recording methodology. Such conditions were met in 2022.

This dataset covers the Diptera in the families Hippoboscidae (flat flies and keds) and Nycteribiidae (bat flies). All records have been verified by the scheme. Records are submitted directly to iRecord and or via the recorders. Dataset includes records collated from old museum records and published literature where records remain valid after changes in taxonomy or are reliably identifiable from the descriptions. It also includes data from the "2021 Mapping the UK's Flat Flies Project" and its 2020 pilot study.Additional information can be obtained from the Hippoboscidae and Nycteribiidae Recording Scheme.
