Supplemental Information for: Fundamental Science and Engineering Questions in Planetary Cave Exploration

This dataset consists of two files: an MS Word document and an MS Excel worksheet. The Word document, "Supplemental_Information_TextS1-S3_Tablecaptions_Wynne_etal2022.docx" is comprised of the three sets of survey questions, Surveys 1, 2, and 3 (Text S1 through S3). These questions were the basis for the social surveys in the horizon scan; the file also contains table captions for the Excel Spreadsheet (Table S1 through S5). The second file is an MS Excel spreadsheet, "Supplemental_Information_TablesS1-S5_Wynne_etal2022.xlsx", contains summary statistics and rank ordering for the combined Survey 2 and 3 results (Table S1), the top 53 fundamental questions in planetary cave science and engineering (Table S2), and survey results for Surveys 1, 2, and 3 (Table S3, S4, and S5, respectively). As per our agreement with Survey 2 participants (i.e., the broader scientific and engineering communities), names and email addresses of respondents were withheld to ensure their anonymity.
