An improved assembly and annotation of the sesame genome

In this study, we constructed an improved genome assembly of sesame using PacBio’s high-fidelity (HiFi) reads and Hi-C data. Based on this updated sesame assembly, we generated a high-confidence set of protein-coding genes. We further performed comparative genomic analysis among sesame and several other sequenced species, and investigated the evolutionary history of sesame genome. The high-quality genome assembly presented here will facilitate the genetic studies and genomics-assisted breeding of sesame.
