Description

DStretchThe arched niche over 1 tomb (arcosolum) with a slightly plastic frame (in the zenith a red medallion with a cross) is located in a corridor of the upper level of the catacombs. The back wall of the tomb is decorated with tendrils of wine and a medallion, which depicts the bust of a deceased man, called Eleusinius. The reveal depicts two opened books in the lower part. A pattern of rhomb with flowers fill the rest of the reveal. The motives are framed by red bands with gems and pearls. Inscription: SCE MEM HELEVSINIVS = sanctae memoriae Heleusinius 5th-6th century AD. The painting is currently dated in the 5th-6th century AD. Processed from 499 photos and 2 laser scans. The result of a joint project of GDH, the Zamani Project, Università degli Studi di Napoli "L'Orientale", and the Administration of the Catacombe di Napoli. Processed in Reality Capture.
