Description

403 preschool children (223 girls, 180 boys) of age between 3 to 6 years were examined. BMI in all participants was recorded using paediatric growth charts standardized as per Centres for Disease Control and Prevention. After evaluation of these recorded pediatric growth charts, the sample population was distributed into three groups: Group I: Normal weight (5th-85th percentiles), Group II: Overweight (>85th percentile), and Group III: Underweight (<5th percentile). Individually each subject was observed for caries occurrence (WHO index for primary teeth (def)) and plaque status (plaque index (PI)) and values were equated with BMI records.
