Dîwân-i-Ghiyâth.This manuscript is now IO Islamic 1521 in the India Office collections.[metadata: Hermann Ethé, Catalogue of Persian Manuscripts in the Library of the India Office, 2 vols. (Oxford: India Office, 1903): volume 1, number 267 here with notations and hyperlinks].1521Dîwân-i-Ghiyâth (ديوان غياث).Lyrical poems by Maulânâ Ghiyâth-aldîn, who according to the contents of his dîwân flourished both under Shâh Ṭahmâsp and Shâh ‘Abbâs the Great (A.H. 996-1038=A.D. 1588-1629); both these sovereigns are frequently praised in his poems, for instance, fol. He cannot be identical with Ghiyâth or Ghiyâthâ-i-Ḥalwâ’î of Shîrâz, who died under Shâh Ṣafî (A.H. 1038-1052=A.D. 1629-1642), as the contents of his dîwân entirely differ from ours, see Rieu ii. p. 682b, and A. Sprenger, Catal., p. 412; but he may very well be the same as Khwâjah Ghiyâth Naḳshband of Yazd, who is mentioned in the Safînah, No. 590 (col. 231 in the Bodleian Cat.), as a poet of ‘Abbâs’ reign. Another poet of the same period and the same name, viz. Khwâjah Ghiyâth-aldîn of Tabrîz, is mentioned in the Safînah, No. 538 (col. 228 in the Bodleian Cat.). This dîwân consists of ghazals, ḳaṣîdas, a few short mathnawîs, ḳiṭ’as, and rubâ’îs, all mixed together without any order, and beginning: نميگويم چنین کن یا چنان کن الخ (the second hemistich is unfortunately damaged by worms). No date. No. 267, ff. 89-128, 2 coll., each ll. 15; Nasta’lîḳ; a little worm-eaten; size, 83/8 in. by 43/4 in.
