Synchrotron data - Cleverley 6034 (Apr 2013) - The micro-scale building blocks of mineral system science: Underpinning the search for tomorrow's mineral wealth
View DatasetDescription
The element mapping capability at the Australian Synchrotron has the potential to provide the building blocks of a fundamentally different view of the controls on metal transport and deposition within the Earth. The metallogenic make-up of large areas of the Earth’s crust reflects the interplay of deep-Earth anhydrous fluids with hydrous outer layers of the Earth. The research will map at the micro-scale suites of elements that characterise the pathways and interactions of deep-Earth fluids in the crust. The outcomes will enhance understanding mineral systems to scales of 106 metres and underpin the search for tomorrow’s mineral wealth.
