Functional reorganization of North American wintering avifauna

Juan Pablo Quimbayo;Stephen Murphy;Marta Jarzyna

Description

This database contains all data used to analyzed temporal trends of wintering bird communities in the last five decades in the United States.  Description Bird AbundanceWe used data the Audubon CBC, a bird monitoring program initiated in 1900 focus in identify and count wintering birds within circles of 24-km diameter. We focused our analysis on 1967-2018 and 1,183 locations in the United States. Considering the number of individuals observed per species in the different locations over time, we used N-mixture models to estimate abundance corrected for species imperfect detection. Bird TraitsWe used four trait categories (i.e., body mass, morphological characteristics, diet and foraging niche) to classified all species observed over time. The trait data were collected from Tobias et al. (2022) and Wilman et al. (2014).References:Tobias, J.A., Sheard, C., Pigot, A.L., Devenish, A.J.M., Yang, J., Sayol, F., et al.     (2022). These data were grouped in two categories:  List of files File: commMats_byYear.rds (This file is a list with 52 dataframes nested, which contain the abundance estimates per species in each location).File: Coords.rds (This file contains the geographical coordinates of each location)  File: climate.csv (This file contains abiotic data, such as precipitation, maximun, minimum, and mean temperatures per location over time).File: cwm_full.rds (This file contains the Community Weight Mean "CWM" results)File: DB_FIndex.rds (This file contains all the functional indices estimates in each location over time)File: elevation_data.csv (This file contains the elevation data extracted per location)File: mcfric_max_minTemp.rds (This file contains model results using the functional richness)File: mcdim1_max_minTemp.rds (This file contains model results using the trait dimension 1)File: mcdim2_max_minTemp.rds (This file contains model results using the trait dimension 2)File: MFA_Results.rds (This file contains the multiple factor analysis "MFA" results)File: mfdiv_max_minTemp.rds (This file contains model results using the functional divergence)File: mfeve_max_minTemp.rds (This file contains model results using the functional evenness) File: mfori_max_minTemp.rds (This file contains model results using the functional originality)File: msric_max_minTemp.rds (This file contains model results using the species richness)File: nullFRic.rds (This file contains the null models)File: RegionalPool_coord.csv (This file contains the NEON domains and locations)File: Traits_Birds.csv (This file contains all the bird traits compiled)If you use any dataset please cite the article above and the original reference for the data set.
