In 1 and 6 (negatives 9 and 10), a plaque in the shape of the State of Arizona reads: "Wickenburg Massacre: in this vicinity Nov[ember] 5, 1871, Wickenburg-Ehrenburg stage ambushed by Apache Mohave Indians. John Lanz, Fred W. Loring, P. M. Hamel, W. G. Salmon, Frederick Shoholm, and C. S. Adams were murdered. Mollie Sheppard died of wounds. Arizona Highway Department, 1937."
