"Client: Ford Motor; Agency: McCann Erickson, Hildreth; Operator's report - name: Jack; Sunday or holiday; Amount: 10.50" - on envelope. "Ford Motor Company, Long Beach, Calif[ornia], August 31, 1937; Attention: Parts and Service Managers: The Merit Club Contest for 1937 has closed . . . . The following won a trip to Detroit or a worth-while Cash Prize: [list of names]; [signed] J. F. Young, Service Supervisor, R. A. Wilson, Parts & Accessories Supervisor" -- Ford letterhead. Pencil notes on the letter include: "Jack Stanfield; Sunday night 9/5 Union Station, Union Pac[ific] train, 8 pm; men to be there at 7 pm, photographers at 7:15; [next to name of Oscar Denton, from Brown Motor Company, San Diego is] pull stunt on him saying his prayers in front of group; 1 good group shot; 1 gag group shot; 1 Oscar Denton begs, 'Please, Mr. Young (or Wilson or both), may I go?'" - letter on Ford Motor Company stationery.
