Description

Photograph of junction of famed Swiss R.R. lines in Brig, Switzerland which were reported to be coveted by Nazis. "C977988 | Watch your credit | International News Photos | Slug (Swiss RR/Brig) | Junction of famed Swiss R.R. lines coveted by Nazis | Brig, Switzerland ... A view looking down on Brig in the Rhone Valley, Switzerland, showing the junction of the famous Simplon and Lotschberg lines, also the Furka-Oberlap Railway and the Furka and Simplon Alpine passes. Reports received in London today indicate that Germany has dem[an]ded the use of Swiss railroads to supply its forces in Italy. Should Switzerland comply with the reported demand it would have a critical effect on the Allied campaign in Italy. It has frequently been hinted that all Swiss railroad tunnels have been mined and would be blown up in the event of a violation of the country's neutrality.
