This data was generated via an extensive systematic literature search was carried out on Google Scholar, Web of Science, Science Direct, Scopus, and OpenGrey, following the Preferred Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines to estimate the abundance of microplastics in world's five oceans.
