The mite remains from Deer Park Farms 87, sample 1046/5 and Lloyds Bank 72/73, sample 16

Schelvis, J.

Description

The mitefauna from Deer Park Farm are too `dirty' for a regular archaeological fill of a pit, ditch or well but it does not show the characteristics of a fauna found in places used to dump excrements such as latrines, cess-pits or a sunken-byre. As yet no solid interpretation could be given. The interpretation of the sample from Lloyds Bank is relatively straightforward; the deposit must have consisted largely of animal excrements, probably horse dung.
