Histology data of an Octopus rubescens arm

View Dataset
Naughton, Noel

Description

Contains the raw histology data of an Octopus rubescens arm described in the paper "Topology, dynamics, and control of an octopus-analog soft arm."
Cross-sectional and frontal planes were acquired. The frontal plane consists of a plane running along the arm's central axis and cutting through the transverse muscle in the center and the right and left longitudinal muscle groups on the sides. In some frontal slices, the top longitudinal muscles are also visible.
Tissue was H&E stained and microscopy was performed using a Hamamatsu Nanozoomer 2.0-HT Slide Scanner. Image data is provided in a ndpi format. Software that can open and display this file format is available from Hamamatsu with their NDP.view2 software (https://www.hamamatsu.com/jp/en/product/life-science-and-medical-systems/digital-slide-scanner/U12388-01.html) or else using the open source OpenSlide software (openslide.org).
