Thirty-eight monitoring wells at 17 locations in the Los Angeles Basin, California and 14 monitoring and production wells in the southern San Joaquin Valley (SJV), California were sampled for the exploratory study. Wells in and around oil fields were selected for sampling in order to evaluate the effects of oil production and development activities on nearby groundwater.
