The Abundance, Richness and Percent Coverage found in Grassland

Tu, Anna

Description

Prior to this experiment, researchers obtained a quadrat and a plant identification guide. Researchers collected data from the grassland located at York University by placing the quadrat randomly in the grassland and recording the name of the plant species found in the quadrat, their abundance, their species richness, and the percentage of space each species occuppied. A plant identification guide was used to identify the plant species found in the quadrat based on their distinct characteristics. Researchers sampled 20 quadrats randomly placed. Since, in this research, there were many grass (poa) in the grassland, "many" was placed in the abundance column of the data sheet because it was difficult to estimate the number of individuals of poa found in the quadrat.
