Description

The Verification of the Origins of Rotation in Tornadoes Experiment (VORTEX) High Resolution Surface Composite dataset contains data collected from the Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS), AWOS, and Oklahoma Mesonet observing stations in the VORTEX domain. All data have been converted to a common format and quality controlled by comparison to the hourly MAPS surface analyses. Please see the readme file for more details on QC procedures. This dataset does contain a mix of observation frequencies. Predominately, the ASOS and Oklahoma Mesonet observations are at 5-minute intervals and the AWOS observations are at 20-minute intervals. These data files are available as ASCII text files and netCDF data files.
