Brief Description:The study’s purpose was to observe the number of different plant species and their abundance near the Stong Pond. We also observed the total vegetation and grassland coverage. Hypothesis:There is no correlation between disturbance and abundance/diversity of the vegetation in Stong Pond. Prediction:The Stong Pond is in an area with little disturbance so as a result, there will be a high quantity and diversity of different plant species. The total coverage of vegetation will also be high because of the low disturbance. Methodology: One group member threw the quadrat in the grass area surrounding the Stong pond. The second person recorded the abundance of plants, number of different species, total cover of all vegetation, and the total cover of grasses. We sampled 25 different grass areas in Stong Pond. Meta-Data: Quadrat: The quadrat was thrown in the grass area surrounding the Stong Pond. This “throwing method” is used to generate random samples, thus preventing bias in our data. Total Cover of Vegetation: This data was a rough estimate. Total cover of Grass: This data was a rough estimate.
