Australian educators teaching in ACA and PACFA accredited counselling and psychotherapy courses
Description
This is a datafile from a desktop review of counsellor educators' characteristics and qualifications. From May to August 2024, the researchers collected publicly available data on educators listed as contributing to counselling courses accredited with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia and the Australian Counselling Association. Data was collected and cross-referenced from Australian higher education institution websites (e.g. staff directories, subject outlines), LinkedIn profiles, ResearchGate, Google Scholar, ORCID, and personal and business websites. No ethics approval was sought for the data collection given that the data was publicly available and is de-identified. Data includes information on educator rank, level and category of qualifications, professional identity and registration, and volume of research publications. The data may have variations of incompleteness and inaccuracies based on what was available and not available online at the time of searches. It was manually collected and checked by two researchers. This data is the first known complete systematic point-in-time collection related to Australian counselling academics. The dataset will enable the identification of trends across the counselling academic workforce at the time of collection.
