Description

The Net Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB) Database originated during the IEA Annex 40 in 2010, building on an inventory initially developed by Dr. Eike Musall at Wuppertal University. Starting as a modest collection of case studies, it has grown into a detailed and continuously expanding repository of large-scale NZEB projects across diverse climates and building typologies. Expanded significantly during the research for Net Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB): Concepts, Frameworks, and Roadmap for Project Analysis and Implementation (Attia, 2018), the database now features over 500 projects from more than 50 countries. This repository not only catalogs project data but also includes the sources and references that underpin the collection, ensuring transparency and traceability of information. While currently private, the database continues to grow, offering valuable insights into the complexities of net-zero energy design and implementation. It serves as a critical resource for advancing sustainable practices and bridging the gap between ambition and execution in large-scale projects.
