Description

This dataset encompasses data on natural regeneration of Silver Fir (Abies alba Mill) in structurally diverse mountain forests across Poland, Germany, and Italy. The dataset provides comprehensive information on various aspects of natural regeneration and stand layer, ithe densities of natural regeneration per hectare for different species and for stand characteristics. The species included in the regeneration layer  are fir (Abies alba Mill), beech (Fagus sylvatica L.), hornbeam (Carpinus betulus L.), spruce (Picea abies L.), and other species. Additionally, data includes the admixture of broadleaf tree species in the stand layer, the normalized Shannon diversity index based on 4 m height classes per site, and the density of fir seedlings and saplings at various growth stages, and the total basal area of trees per hectare. This data offers valuable insights into the structural diversity and regeneration dynamics of Silver Fir dominated stands across different European regions. For more detailed information, refer to the publication: Contrasting regeneration patterns in Abies alba Mill dominated stands: insights from structurally diverse mountain forests across Europe.
