Description
Magnons are the excitations associated with long range magnetic order. TbRu2Si2 develops multi-Q magnetic order below 56K. In our recent crystal field experiment on Mari we did not observe signatures of the magnon excitations. One possible explanation for this is that the spin excitations are steep in energy and exist at lower-Q (outside of the Mari coverage). Longer single-run counting times may also be required (>4 hrs) since the spectral intensity will be spread over many different bands. This would make MAPS a better instrument for detecting these excitations, so that the energy scale of the magnetic excitations may be ascertained. Using various Ei's, we intend to search for these magnon excitations at low-Q so that their energy scale can be determined as a feasibility study for future single-crystal INS investigations on this system.
