This paper studies the furry community, a group of individuals with a common passion for depictions of diverse animals bearing anthropomorphic traits. Focalizing on the fursona, this character that every member creates and which gives them a place, a chosen identity. This object unique to furries has features and offers it's user benefits that corresponds to needs (being represented, project themselves, tell others a personal story...etc). This document attempts to identify the particularities of the fursona and explain its omnipresence in the furry community by exploring what it brings to individuals who decide to make of this entity an identity for themselves.
