(De)coding the Understanding of Sexual Harassment in Higher Education Institution: An Exploratory Study of the effect of Gender Sensitization training on Educators.xlsx

The present study develops a nuanced understanding of sexual harassment in higher education institutions as a disabling factor and further assesses the efficacy of gender sensitization and sexual harassment training on the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of 50 educators in higher education institutions (HEIs) in India. This assessment is undertaken through administering the Sexual Harassment Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (SHKAP) scale (2024) before and after such training session to comprehend the impact of such sensitization programmes. Respondents also include educators who have been members of Internal Complaint Committees formed to inquire into sexual harassment complaint.This research shows that sexual harassment awareness training and gender sensitization programs can improve knowledge and have significant impact in reducing myth-based attitudes about sexual harassment at workplace. These training programmes can go a long way in bringing out attitudinal transformation consequently ensuring a conducive work environment to female employees.
