This study is the first stage of a two-stage quantitative survey looking at the impact of the &lt;i&gt;New Deal for Young People&lt;/i&gt; (NDYP) on participants (the other part of the survey is not yet held at UKDA).<br>The two overarching objectives of the research were to look at how the various components of the programme helped young unemployed people into jobs and increased their long term employability. The first part of the research aimed to:<br>collect attitudinal data on work motivation, orientation and aspiration, as well as jobsearch behaviour;<br>collect information on earnings for those in employment;<br>establish benchmark measures for employability to be used in the more detailed Stage 2 research.
