Description
Photograph of beach groins, showing the rocky beach in the foreground, 1953. Foamy water spills through the teeth of the groin at center which extends from the beach in the foreground on the right into the waves on the left. Plants are caught in the small, smooth rocks which blanket the sand in the foreground while imperfections spot the lightly-colored sand in the background. Photoprint reads "Old father Pacific pounds against the southern California coast and deposits particles of sand to form new beaches when groins still turbulent waters".
