Description

This dataset contains a high-resolution scan and a georeferenced version of a single historical topographic map sheet of Kenya, at a 1:50,000 scale, dating from the mid-20th century. Originally produced by the Directorate of Overseas Surveys, the General War Office (Geographic Section General Staff), and the Survey of Kenya, the map provides detailed representations of terrain, infrastructure, land use, hydrography, and settlements during a key period in Kenya’s history. The scan was provided under licence by the Bodleian Libraries, University of Oxford, for academic and educational purposes. The georeferenced version allows for integration with contemporary GIS platforms to support spatial analysis and historical research.
