Description

Photograph of six students working in a garden. "Here are some of the Juniors in their garden in its early stages. Notice how it is surrounded by the deep trenches. Every grade has a garden by its own air raid shelter. Lettuce, tomatoes, corn, string beans, lima beans, parsley, beets, carrots, cabbage, swiss chard, and eggplant have been planted. Already we have eaten lettuce, radishes, carrots, tomatoes and string beans that the children planted in February."
