Cooling rate dependence on the structural modulations of the layered oxysulfides Sr2MnO2Cu3.5S3 and Sr2MnO2Cu5.5S4

Description

We will use high-resolution X-ray powder diffraction to investigate the low temperature structures of the layered oxysulfides, Sr2MnO2Cu3.5S3 and Sr2MnO2Cu5.5S4. This will enable full understanding of the nature and extent of Cu+/vacancy ordering and/or Mn charge ordering and their dependence on cooling rate. The data from ID22 are expected to enable us to resolve fully the complex details of the structural transitions with temperature in these compounds.
