Atmospheric boundary layer data collected at the Atmospheric Boundary Layer Research Facility of the University of Adelaide
View DatasetDescription
The atmospheric boundary layer data includes wind velocities in three components, temperatures and measurement time collected by 14 ultrasonic anemometers at the Atmospheric Boundary Layer Research Facility on the Roseworthy campus of the University of Adelaide.Five anemometers are located at 1.6 m, 3 m, 4.6 m, 7.9 m, and 12 m high on a 12-m mast and the others are all located at 3 m high. The detailed locations can be found in the attached document named "Ultralsonic anemometer locations at the ABLRF.pdf".Some data, such as the one named "20250525_ultrasonicData.mat", has a wind direction issue. It shows that the horizontal wind speeds at 4.6 m high are smaller than those ones at 3 m high. The reason could be that if the flow direction is from the north-east, the anemometers at 3 m and 4.6 m high are likely to be in the wake of the large heliostat. This does depend on the heliostat position and wind direction in which the anemometers are affected. The data named "20230513_ultrasonicData.mat" does not have this issue, while others have not been checked. Please note that this data must be used according to the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license.
