Purple Sector Coding Database

Beselga, Mariana;Escalante Mendívil Perino, Michelle

Description

The Purple Sector Coding Database (Version 1.0) systematizes approximately between 150-200 primary policy and legal sources produced between 2000 and 2025 across Uruguay, Ecuador, Brazil, and Peru. Each document was coded according to four analytical dimensions — Recognition, Enforcement and Formalisation, Access and Care Infrastructure, and Integration and Policy Learning — to assess the institutional maturity of care-related policies and their degree of coordination across welfare and labour systems. The database enables cross-country comparison of care-policy trajectories and supports the operationalisation of the Purple Economy framework through the concept of the Purple Sector.
