Description

This poll, conducted September 15-16, 2003, is part of a continuing series of monthly polls that solicit public opinion on political and social issues. Respondents were asked to give their opinions of President George W. Bush and his overall job performance, as well as his handling of military action against Iraq, foreign policy, and the economy. Respondents were also asked for their opinions on the rebuilding of Iraq. Questions addressed cooperation with the United Nations and financing the rebuilding of Iraq, including the possibility of spending cuts for domestic programs. Respondents' views were sought on the relationship between the war on terrorism and Iraq, whether the war on Iraq was part of the war on terrorism, whether the war against Iraq would lead to more terrorist attacks, and the future of Iraq and the Middle East. Opinions were probed regarding the current and future impact of global warming and President Bush's handling of the issue. Respondents were questioned about possible solutions to stop global warming, such as paying more for gas, using new technology, or taxing the industries that produce pollution-causing materials. Questions regarding music sharing were also asked, including what price range respondents were willing to pay for music over the Internet. Background variables include age, gender, political preference, marital status, highest level of education completed, race, and alternate phone numbers.
