[Text Description:] Figuring of sitting monkey, holding a drinking vessel to its mouth ❧ [Text or Publication Number Note:] ZT 25470 ❧ [Excavation Description:] Ziyaret Tepe Archaeological Project, an international collaboration led by Prof. Tim Matney of the University of Akron, Ohio ❧ [Medium:] Ivory ❧ [Script Note:] Non-Text ❧ [Physical Object Description:] A small figurine of a monkey with both hands holding a drinking vessel to its mouth. It sits on a small base with three horizontal lines. Beneath which is a small stud or protrusion perhaps for attaching to another object. ❧ [Physical Object Note:] l. 2.7 cm; w. 1.1 cm; thickness .6 cm ❧ [Physical Object Note:] The object is in general well preserved compared to other ivory finds in ZT. A major crack developed on the head of the monkey which stretches to its left shoulder. Am smaller cracks runs from its right elbow straight to the base. Soil adheres to the surface, especially in the crevices. Very hard, concrete like soil adheres to the base.
