MALAWI (2013): QUALITATIVE STUDY; PRETESTING OF LOGO FOR THE NATIONAL RURAL SANITATION MARKETING PROGRAM (NRSMP) UNDER UNICEF IN LILONGWE, MZIMBA AND NKHATABAY.
View DatasetDescription
UNICEF Malawi is complementing Government efforts in sanitation and hygiene promotion through its National Rural Sanitation Marketing Program (NRSMP). The NRSMP is aligned to the government of Malawi's Open Defecation Free by 2015 Strategy and the National Sanitation Policy [2008]. In this program UNICEF Malawi seeks to provide a sanitation facility in form of a toilet to poor households that are affordable, durable and locally-available. UNICEF Malawi was in search for a business model that provides suppliers with a financial motive to offer these innovative toilets across rural communities. To support this business model, UNICEF Malawi sought PSI/Malawi's expertise to develop a logo and key messages to support the promotional campaign. In regard to this behavioral communication campaign, PSI/Malawi came up with a logo and key messages for the project target audiences. Before the commencement of the campaign a pretest of the logo and the key messages to the target audiences was done to get their perspectives. The pretest was carried out among men and women in Lilongwe, Mzimba and Nkhatabay. Focus group discussion were used to collect information.
