WRF/WRFDA OSEs of FY-3 GNSS-R Ocean Surface Winds: Observation Error Sensitivity Dataset

Description

This dataset provides verification statistics from OSEs designed to quantify the sensitivity of WRF/WRFDA analyses and forecasts to FY-3E GNSS-R SWS ocean surface wind assimilation under different observation error specifications. The experiment starts at 0600 UTC on 23 August 2022 and consists of 16 consecutive 3D-Var assimilation cycles with a 6-hour cycling interval, followed by forecasts of up to 120 hours.The archived data are root-mean-square error statistics computed between the WRF analysis/forecast and the ECMWF ERA5 reanalysis used as the reference. The model domain covers 25.7°S–49.4°N, 133.2°E–144.2°W with a horizontal grid of 300 × 300 points.Four experiment groups are included: CTRL, GNSSR6_CTRL, GNSSRdy_CTRL, and thinGNSSR4_CTRL, representing a control configuration and three FY-3E GNSS-R assimilation configurations that differ in observation error treatment (including static, dynamic, and thinned settings).
