Description

This dataset contains data from a participatory field experiment evaluating a decision support tool (modified SIMCAST) on cost reduction and environmental impact in the control of potato late blight caused by Phytophthora infestans. The study involved 25 farmers (11 men and 14 women) in Paucartambo, Cusco, Peru, spanning an altitudinal gradient of approximately 2,700–3,700 m a.s.l. The dataset compares conventional farmer-managed disease control with a SIMCAST-based integrated management approach, including information on fungicide application frequency, crop performance of local potato varieties (Pollera and Watia), yields, input costs, and relative environmental impact. Farmer perceptions of the decision support tool and disease behavior are also included.
