Description

The data set was used to determine whether a full range of pure tone audiometric frequencies is required to assess hearing loss caused by otitis media with effusion in children, and if different combinations of test frequency pure tone averaging calculations may affect clinical decision criteria for surgical treatment. Using a retrospective cohort study design, anonymized right and left ear air conduction pure tone threshold data were obtained, from 125 Hz to 8 kHz, for 96 children with OME aged 4 to 12 years. Audiometric data related to ear and gender are shown in the data set.
