Description

This dataset contains the digitized treatments in Plazi based on the original journal article Santos-Silva, Antonio, Bezark, Larry G., Botero, Juan Pablo (2025): The Cerambycidae (Coleoptera) from the James Cope collection: New species, synonymy, and taxonomical and geographical notes. Zootaxa 5723 (3): 384-400, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.5723.3.4, URL: https://doi.org/10.11646/zootaxa.5723.3.4AbstractThe examination of material from the James Cope collection provided the basis for taxonomical, nomenclatural, and geographical notes on Cerambycidae. Taxonomical notes on Proxatrypanius Gilmour, 1959 are provided, with the transfer of Leptostylus incertus (Bates, 1881) to this genus, synonymization of Proxatrypanius rockefelleri Gilmour, 1959 with this species, and a new Mexican state record. Notes on Spalacopsis Newman, 1842 are provided, including the revalidation of Spalacopsis macilenta Lacordaire, 1876, the synonymization of Spalacopsis phantasma Bates, 1885 with that species, and the description of a new species from Mexico: S. copei sp. nov. New geographical records are provided for: Diphyrama singularis Bates, 1872; Niophis aper (Germar, 1823); Ecliptoides vandenberghei Wappes & Santos-Silva, 2017; Euderces boucardi (Chevrolat, 1862); Neocompsa agnosta Martins, 1970; Anisopodus hiekei Martins, 1974; Granastyochus nigropunctatus (Bates, 1881); Lepturges (Lepturges) fischeri Melzer, 1928; Lepturges (Lepturges) vigneaulti Audureau, 2018; Polymitoleiopus ozophagus (Chemsak & Feller, 1988); Zikanita monnei Noguera & Gutiérrez, 2019; and Irundiaba waorani Martins & Galileo, 2008.
