Catholicism in early 20th century China: A re-examination

This dataset documents the locations of Catholic missions in China as of 1919, based on methodology explained in Ma and Zhao (2025). It includes the county-level location of most mission stations, along with a phonetic matching code used to link station names in French Romanization to modern administrative units based on pinyin pronunciation.
